Red Riding Hood

And again it's a Monday Challenge. This time it's all about 'Mythology inspired by a story'.
I let myself be inspired by Red Riding Hood. I just love the red cape 😉
The base for this project was a stamp from Jane Davenport. The faces in her stamps are beautiful.
And what I like about it, is that you can put your own creativity and drawingskills in it.
At first I used an eye from the Jane Davenport Mix and Match Eyes Nose and Mouth. I used a Tombow Mono Drawing Pen to draw her face, hair and cape.

For the background I used Distress Oxide, Faded Jeans and Cracked Pistachio, and sprayed some water on it. I made a stencil out of a Tim Holtz Sizzix Small Tattered Florals Thinlits Die and put the flowers in the corner. The colour is Walnut Stains from Distress Oxide. 

To create the fire red hood I blended some colours. Distress Ink Fired Brick and Dylusions Bubblegum Pink Shimmer. I used this same blend with a lot of water for her face. For her lips it was just the Pink Shimmer with a little bit of water.

Her hair is a combination of Distress Oxide Walnut Stains with water, Distress Crayon Squeezed Lemonade, Distress Crayon Black Soot, and a Glass Marker from Arteza Gold.
I must say I just love to work with the Distress Crayon Black Soot. I use it to create shadow of just a grunch effect at the edges.

The texture on her right side and a little bit in the left corner at the bottom was made with a 

Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Feather. I blended the texture paste with Infusions In the Navy Colored Stain. On top of it there's some Nuvo Mousse Gunmetal Grey to give it a little shine 

When you look closely I gave the background a little effect with a Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Dotted.

 A trio of something

Hello everyone,

This is my first time participating the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge as a guest designer!
I will do this the whole month of April and I'm very exited to do this.
The first theme for April is: 'A trio of something'
What I like to do is give it a little twist. As well with the theme as what I'm showing.

For this I used some bright colours. Very different from what I normally use. But hey, always challenging myself ;-)
I used these 3 main colours: 
The Ranger Dylusions BUBBLEGUM PINK Shimmer Spray, Ranger Dylusions Ink Spray LEMON ZEST Dyan Reaveley, Ranger Dylusions Ink Spray CALYPSO TEAL Dyan Reaveley  
And for the edges Ranger Dylusions Ink Spray BLACK MARBLE Dyan Reaveley

For the 'Flower Fishes' I used a flower stamp from Heidi Swapp MAGNOLIA JANE.
In here there's a little twist that I used the flowers as fishes. Adding the white bubbles let it looks like they are under the water. I coloured their 'tales' with a mixture of the three ink colours I used for the background.

For the texture I used orange and red embossing powder.

To create some depth under water I used a black Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Crayon.

If you look closely you can see I gave a vague dark background effect with the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil DOTTED as if there are big bubbles.

For the white accents, highlights and bubbles I used the Sakura WHITE MEDIUM POINT Gelly Roll Classic Gel Pen
At the end I added a text and here also there's a little twist with regard to the theme ;-) The text stamps are also from the  Heidi Swapp MAGNOLIA JANE set.

Take Note

Hello! 

Today it's Valentines Day and I think this is a nice day to create something for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. This week the theme is: 'Take Note'

For me the first thought was a real note. As I like to alter everything I took a real post-it and started to paint white gesso on it. Just as long until the thin paper started to look a little bit crackled and worn. On top of the post-it I put transparant Hard Tex. To make it a little bit more firm.

The second thing I did was creating the background for the post-it. For this I used a stencil with hearts and modeling paste. I colorized the hearts and background with pearl pigment powder (pink, grey and bronze) and infusions (sunset beach). Spraying some water on it melted al the colours together. I filled the white spots with Distress Oxide (wilted violet)

The stamp I used is a lace stamp. I used white embossing powder to make it clearly visible.

At the edge of the card and hearts I put on soft crayon (purple and black).

Resist it

For this monday the challenge is 'Resist it'. There are several formes of technique to make something a resist and I choose for clear gesso. In combination with a leaves stencil. Also for the circles I used white Gesso, to give it some kind of resist. Surfing over the internet I came along a lot of posts with circles as a theme. It got me interested. It gives some kind of mystical touch. Something mysterious.

I first started with the clear gesso, the stencil and distress ink to create the background.

I used a lace background stamp at the edge. If you look closely you can see the lace at the edge of some circles.

The circles were put at random. First I filled them up with white gesso and then I coloured it up with soft crayons and watermarkers.

Later on I added infusions and sprayed water on it. At the edge of the card I also used a black soft crayon to give it that extra effect.

One of the last things I did was adding the stamp. It seemed to fit exactly in the open space in the middle.

Tag it!

Another Monday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp. So let's tag it!
Normally I love to work on a large piece of paper. A tag is much smaller, but I gave it a try again. For this tag I used a cutting die from Tim Holtz. (Tim Holtz Sizzix Die TAG & BOOKPLATES Movers And Shapers 656938) It always comes in handy. Actually, a must have?

I crumbled the paper tag before putting the Distress Ink on the background. For this I put some Distress Ink and Oxide on my craftsheet, sprayed some water on it and then just dabbed the tag in it.

After creating the background colours I used an embossing folder with tiny dots in it.

I highlighted the dots with white gesso and with old silver cream

For the 'hair' I used a cutting die from Tim Holtz. I cut it into smaller pieces so I could use it for the hair.

And then the face stamp, I think it's awesome. It looks so real! The colours I used on the face and hair, are Distress Ink carved pumpkin and Distress Oxide abandoned coral.
